\nJoin a Museum Guide on a private tour of the NHA\u2019s collection in the Whaling Museum. The Nantucket Historical Association\u2019s collection includes artifacts <\/span>representing<\/span> whaling, transportation, <\/span>the domestic<\/span> and community life, fine and decorative arts, agriculture, commerce, and architecture.\u202f<\/span><\/p>\n

Gallery Tours<\/strong>
\nJoin us for a guided tour of a gallery of your choice. <\/span>The galleries focus on a range of different subjects, from Island People to Scrimshaw and Whaling. This tour will allow you to focus on a specific theme within Nantucket\u2019s history. <\/span>A Museum Guide will highlight <\/span><\/span>artifacts in that gallery that are indicative of themes <\/span>of the <\/span>gallery<\/span> and discuss the history of the subject matter<\/span> within the <\/span><\/span>broader<\/span><\/span><\/span> context of Nantucket history<\/span>.<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

Historic Sites Tour
\n<\/strong><\/span>\"\"Visit one of <\/span><\/span>the Nantucket Historical Association\u2019s<\/span><\/span><\/span> historic sites for a guided tour. Each site offers deeper insight into the <\/span>bigger themes<\/span> of Nantucket history thr<\/span>ough their own histories.<\/span> Museum Guides at the site will walk you through the property and highlight specific features of the building, bringing them to life with stories of <\/span>previous<\/span> vis<\/span>itors or occupants. <\/span>Our historic sites include <\/span>the Oldest House, Greater Light, the Old Mill, and the Old Jail. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\n<\/span>The NHA\u2019s Historic Downtown Walking tour transports visitors on a journey through Nantucket\u2019s past. It tells the story of the rise and fall of whaling, the rise of tourism, and the impacts the island\u2019s economy had on the social and racial development on Nantucket. <\/span>The tour is a<\/span>pproximately 1 hour l<\/span>ong<\/span>, <\/span>starting at the NHA\u2019s Whaling Museum and concluding <\/span>at the <\/span>Friends Meeting House<\/span> on <\/span>Fair<\/span> Street<\/span>. P<\/span>ricing includes <\/span>the services of our tour guide and mobile walking tour audio systems.<\/span><\/p>\n

Historic<\/span> Homes and Architecture Walking Tour<\/span><\/span><\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong>
\n\"\"<\/span><\/span><\/strong>The Historic Homes and Architecture walking tour highlights th<\/span>e construction of the rich<\/span> history of Nantucket <\/span>through the lens of architecture. Visitors will learn about the island\u2019s two key historic industries, whaling and tourism, which shaped the Nantucket of today. This tour <\/span>provides <\/span>visitors with<\/span> insight and illumination into the expansive history of Nantucket\u2019s architecture, <\/span>society<\/span> and domestic life<\/span> through the centuries. <\/span>The tour is approximately 1 hour long, starting at the NHA\u2019s Whaling Museum and concluding at the NHA\u2019s historic Hadwen House; a whaling era mansion on upper Main Street. Pricing includes the services of our tour guide and mobile walking tour audio systems.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span>

The Historic Nantucket Bike Tour gets your group on the road and out of the bustle<\/span> and noise of downtown Nantucket to explore the beautiful historic <\/span>locations on the <\/span>periphery<\/span> of town<\/span> that you<\/span> otherwise might miss. <\/span>Tracing a story of historic land use, our guides will lead you <\/span>pedaling<\/span> through a history of people and place that often <\/span>gets<\/span> ov<\/span>erlooked.<\/span> The tour is approximately 2 hours<\/span>, <\/span>start<\/span>ing and concluding<\/span> at the NHA\u2019s Whaling Museum<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n
