The NHA is committed to interpreting island history and actively collects to support this mission. In recent years, many important works of art have been added to the collection through the generosity of community members, supporters, and the Friends of the NHA. <\/span>One significant addition is <\/span>Cranberry Pickers<\/span><\/i> by Eastman Johnson, the primary artist of national importance associated with Nantucket in the late 19th century. <\/span>This beautifully finished piece is one of two dozen works the artist made to prepare for his monumental canvas, <\/span>Cranberry Harvest<\/span><\/i>, now at the Timkin Museum in San Diego.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Also displayed in this gallery are noteworthy paintings by Elizabeth Rebecca Coffin, Charles Green Shaw, William Trost Richards, George Inness, and others. <\/span>We are pleased to share these works as a special advance look at what is to come.\u202f<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
