Since the days of long-voyage whaling in late 18th c., though, Nantucketers built durable networks of friendships and trading relations across the world. Today, of course, the world is connected at our fingertips. But Nantucket was possibly the first global village.<\/p>\n

Nantucket & The World<\/em> highlights the international networks created by the \u201cactive and disciplined\u201d men and women of Nantucket through whaling and trading. Step into their world, take in some of the objects and ideas they collected from the North and South Pacific whaling grounds, China, Japan, India, Africa, Europe and across the United States.and experience the world through Nantucketers\u2019 eyes.<\/p>\n
